The Rural Roots Farmer Showcase 6th Annual Outdoor Market + Dinner & Concert is back! Join us on Saturday Aug 17, 2024 at the beautiful George Pegg Botanic Garden for a day of fun and celebration of all things rural during Alberta Open Farm Days.

OUTDOOR FARM TO TABLE DINNER & CONCERT 5:30 PM- 9:00 PM

monday, AUGUST 12 IS THE DEADLINE TO BUY TICKETS

The highlight of the day is our casual outdoor dinner and concert. Indulge in a mouth-watering meal featuring fresh, local ingredients. The cash bar includes a selection of wine, beer, and spirits. Our talented local musicians- Never Too Late- are sure to get your toes tapping and your heart singing.  Tying the evening together, our MC shares stories about this agricultural community, our producers, and a bit of history. Every diner is eligible to enter the draw for a $250.00 “Dinner for 6” from Board & Iron or The Jaded Chef! It's the perfect way to spend a summer evening with friends and family.

Never Too Late loves making music together, whether running through potential new songs in someone’s living room, or performing on a stage, nothing beats hearing a song come together. With musical influences ranging across genres and spanning decades, they enjoy putting their own spin on their favorite tunes. They love to share their music and grab any opportunity that comes their way. Amanda, Colton, Tenielle and Jesse look forward to bringing their talents and wide array of covers to George Pegg Garden for an evening of entertainment for all!

The 2024 menu:

Since we started in 2019, each year’s menu and how we serve it has been an adventure. Our guests have dined under a tent, on the lawn, and at home. We’ve featured beef, chicken, bison, and elk, along with all the other ingredients that make up a great meal- all with the goal of showcasing our local producers. This year we are delighted to be serving Board and Iron’s delicious and beautiful charcuterie boxes.

Board and Iron’s fine artisan charcuterie boxes are full of cheeses and cured meats, crackers, nuts, dried/pickled fruits and/or nuts, and sweets. We make sure our boxes' contents represent a dazzling balance of flavors, textures, aesthetics, and convenience. Each box is just the right amount for 1 person.

Because we know some diners might be looking for something more, there are several choices from Sangudo’s Jaded Chef to add on:

  • Cold Summer Platter- roast turkey, roast beef, potato salad, macaroni salad, dinner roll and butter, a selection of cheese, pickles, and a hard cooked egg.

  • Southern Fried Chicken-two pieces of chicken with potato salad, macaroni salad, and house salad.

  • Vegetarian Cold Summer Platter- potato salad, macaroni salad, dinner roll and butter, a selection of cheese, pickles and a hard cooked egg.

  • Dessert Box- A selection of sweets to finish off your meal- 2 each. Brownie, Rhubarb Custard Square, & Butter Tart.

How the Dinner & Concert works:

This is an outdoor event- rain or shine! Alberta weather changes quickly, so a jacket, bug spray, and an umbrella may be needed. What if there is rain? We have room for everyone under cover in our events building.

Please bring your own portable dining setup (table & chairs or blanket), plates, cutlery, and glassware (wine, spirits, beer, water, and coffee cup depending on your drink preferences).

We invite you to get creative and dress up your outdoor dining space! Table cloths, centerpieces, flower bouquets, and creative place settings are all welcome and encouraged.

IRON is the 2024 theme for the best decorated table prize
